April Giant Block Tutorial - Giant Block Tutorial Series

April Giant Block
Happy April! I am excited to share another tutorial with you today.

April Giant Block Tutorial

This is the fourth quilt in the Giant Block Tutorial Series. I think that you will find this project to be fast and fun!

(Quick note: There are suggestions on how to use each block in a quilt, but you can also use any of the quilt directions from the previous months. Any of the 24" block quilt tutorials will work for the 24" block, etc.)

6. Take one of the Fabric C triangles from Step 1, and piece it to one of the resulting pieces from Step 5. Repeat until you have (4) of each of the objects in the image below.

Trim each one to 6.5" x 6.5" for the 24" block and 9.5" x 9.5" for the 36" block.

7. Take the Fabric B triangles from Step 1 and the Fabric A square. Piece a triangle onto each side as shown below. Trim the 24" block down to 12.5" x 12.5" and the 36" block down to 18.5" x 18.5."

Note: Before sewing on the triangles, fold the triangle and the square in half to leave a crease. Line up the creases when pinning.

8. Pair together one of each type of block from Step 6. Make 4.

In the images below, I have added binding to the images to help show how a completed quilt would look and to help show scale.

These are some suggestions on how you can use this block in a quilt. For more ideas, look at the past posts in the Giant Block Tutorial Series. Since each month has blocks are the same size, any of the 24" quilt ideas will work for the 24" block and any of the 36" block tutorials will work for the 36" block.
